Ms. Garrido began performing on stage at the tender age of 5, in her native country of Venezuela. Thusly, exploring new concepts of dance, to include classical, contemporary, and jazz, serve as pathways to expand on time-honored Flamenco origins.
At just 9 years old, Ms. Garrido shared the stage with world famous Dancer Joaquín Cortés in the Teresa Carreño Theater in Caracas, Venezuela. Ms. Garrido later moved to Spain and studied specialized dance techniques with instructors such as Ciro Diezhandino Nieto, Eduardo Serrano “El Güito”, María Magdalena, Kassandra “La China”, and Milagros Menjíbar. Ms. Garrido has also performed as a principal Dancer in acclaimed dance companies, such as Antonio Canales’ Ballet Flamenco, Adrián Galia’s Flamenco Company, and Domingo Ortega’s Flamenco Ortega.
Inspired by these experiences, Ms. Garrido established Siudy Garrido Flamenco Company in 2000. It later toured nationally, first at the Aspen Music Festival, conducted by Cristian Măcelaru, then in Des Moines, IA, with Maestro Joseph Junta. In 2018 and 2019, it once again sold out many performances, this time while touring with the South Florida Symphony, led by Maestra Sebrina María Alfonso.
