SIUDY GARRIDO, award-winning Choreographer and lifelong, trained Dancer, is one of today’s most impressive talents in the Flamenco dance scene. She is recognized as a trailblazing Artist, blending traditional and contemporary techniques into a brand of Flamenco that’s entirely her own.

SIUDY GARRIDO is an award-winning Artist, Choreographer and Artistic Director, who is well-known and highly-regarded worldwide. She is considered one of the most impressive talents in the contemporary Flamenco dance scene. She has been acclaimed by her wide-ranging fanbase and by the media, who describe her as: “dazzling”, “first class”, “perfection”, and “a queen of the scene”. She has been recognized for her artistic vision, which combines traditional and contemporary techniques in a Flamenco style that is completely her own.

Ms. Garrido’s talent and creativity have led her to join forces with the most noteworthy stages in the world, such as: Broadway, Disney, Cirque Du Soleil, the Latin Grammys, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, and The Hollywood Bowl, among others. Ms. Garrido has also popularized the Flamenco genre in high-rating music videos and in TV.

Since 2000 –when she founded her own company– until today, Ms. Garrido has served as a Principal Dancer, Choreographer, and Artistic Director of the Siudy Garrido Flamenco Company, a non-profit organization with new headquarters in Miami since 2015. Their mission is to create, produce, and elevate Flamenco dance in the United States and abroad. This mission is achieved by inspiring the next generation of aspiring Dance professionals through a variety of educational programs.

The Siudy Garrido Flamenco Company’s original works include: Caminos Flamencos (2000-2003); In Body and Soul (2004-2007), which received an Honorable Mention at the Municipal Dance Award of Venezuela; Siudy: Between Worlds (2008-2015), presented for a three-month season Off-Broadway in New York City, and nominated for Best Choreography at the 2011 Drama Desk Awards; Flamenco Íntimo (2013-present); Amor Brujo (2015-present), and Bailaora: Dentro de Mí, Dentro de Tí (2019-present).

In July 2019, Ms. Garrido debuted her original choreography of Manuel de Falla’s Amor Brujo, with the Los Angeles Philharmonic as a Featured Guest. This show, for which Ms. Garrido was also the Principal Bailaora, was directed by Maestro Gustavo Dudamel and debuted at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles, CA, to four sold-out shows. Subsequently, the Siudy Garrido Flamenco Company toured nationwide with this incredible show, to include the Aspen Music Festival conducted by Maestro Cristian Măcelaru, the Des Moines Symphony conducted by Maestro Joseph Junta, and later with the South Florida Symphony Orchestra conducted by Maestra Sebrina María Alfonso.

Later, Siudy Garrido collaborated once again with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, presenting her version of Amor Brujo within their 20th anniversary celebration at LA’s The Hollywood Bowl, directed by Maestro Paolo Bortolameolli. In November 2019, Ms. Garrido premiered Bailaora: Dentro de Mí, Dentro de Tí, a production that made her an official Arts Partner of the renowned Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts in Miami, FL.

During Ms. Garrido’s highly prolific career, she’s shared the stage with some of the foremost Flamenco performers, who’ve collaborated with her in many original productions. Among them: Maestro Antonio Canales with Siudy: Between Worlds (2014-2015), Juan Manuel Montoya “Farruquito” with Flamenco Íntimo and Amor Brujo (2015-2016), and Cantaora Argentina López with Amor Brujo (2015-present).

Ms. Garrido’s far-reaching career has been highly regarded by Artists across the board. For example, there’s her unforgettable performance in the rating’s darling Season 3 of NBC’s World of Dance, hosted by Jennifer Lopez. In the music industry, Ms. Garrido has performed in live concerts and music videos for artists such as: Alejandro Sanz, Romeo Santos, Marc Anthony, Niña Pastori, El Cigala and Maná, among others.

Born in Caracas, Venezuela, Ms. Garrido began performing on stage at just five years old. Her dance education started at her mother’s academy, Siudy Quintero, whom she considers her most influential teacher. Following in her mother’s footsteps and answering her ancestral vocation, Ms. Garrido has dedicated her entire life to honoring and elevating the art of Flamenco. Throughout her outstanding career, she’s benefitted from the mentorship of other Flamenco influencers, such as: her aunt Azilde Henríquez, María Magdalena, Eduardo Serrano Iglesias “El Güito”, Ciro Diezhandino Nieto, Kasandra “La China”, Milagros Menjíbar, Adrián Galia, and Domingo Ortega. Ever an evolving artist, Ms. Garrido’s career has also led her to study other dance genres, such as: ballet, jazz, contemporary dance, and the Graham technique. Ms. Garrido has dedicated her entire life to honoring Flamenco dance. In each scene and with each movement, Ms. Garrido displays a deep exploration and understanding of new dance concepts, where Flamenco is nourished by the influences of other musical genres. The result is the evolution of this art form, which still very much honors the roots of traditional Flamenco.
